Joy Spencer

Hi, I’m Joy Spencer, a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Wood River High School, where I teach Culinary Arts, Fashion and Sewing, Food and Nutrition, and Teen Living. I’ve been part of the Blaine County School District for 19 years in a variety of roles, and I’m grateful to be teaching FCS. I truly believe the best learning happens when students feel supported, encouraged, and comfortable learning by doing—whether that’s in the kitchen or at the sewing table. I also serve as an FCCLA adviser and love helping students build confidence, leadership skills, and pride in their work through hands-on, real-world experiences. Outside the classroom, I enjoy baking, hiking, sewing, playing guitar and singing, and spending time with my family. I’m inspired by FCCLA’s mission of developing today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders and by the joy that comes from watching students discover what they’re capable of creating.
