Janell Porter

Janell Porter is the Counselor’s Secretary and Registrar at Wood River High School. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and brings more than 16 years of experience in healthcare administration and patient services to her role. I began my career with St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center, where I was blessed to work across multiple clinics and departments in positions including Patient Access Team Lead, Medical Records Team Lead, and Registered Medical Assistant, supporting both patients and providers in fast-paced medical settings.
I am lucky to be a lifelong member of the Wood River Valley community. I was born at the former Sun Valley Moritz Hospital and raised in Bellevue, giving me a feeling of having a deep connection to the local community and the families that we serve. I joined the Blaine County School District in 2022 and work closely with students, families, counselors, and administrators to manage registration, transcripts, student records, course selection, and reporting, while also assisting the school nurse with delegated student care needs.
Outside of work at WRHS, I serve our community as a volunteer firefighter and Basic EMT with Carey Rural Fire & Rescue, responding to medical, trauma, and emergency calls throughout the Carey serve area. I have many other roles in the Carey community as well, but in my off times, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, spending time in my backyard oasis, crafting, Lego kit building, and reading. I truly value service, teamwork, and staying involved in the community that I have called home my entire life.
