Samantha Johnson
Assistant Principal

My name is Samantha Johnson, and I am one of the vice principals at Wood River High School. I primarily serve students with last names that begin with A-L, but my door is always open to any student!

I was born and raised in the Wood River Valley, and attended Hemingway Elementary, Wood River Middle School, and Wood River High School. Blaine County School District holds a very special place in my heart. Serving the students of Blaine County has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me.

I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Statistics Composite Education from Utah State University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho. I began my career as a WRHS math teacher. During my five years of service in the classroom, I taught Principles of Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and College Algebra.

While I miss the classroom and teaching math, I have developed a deep passion for the work I do in administration. Coaching students through difficult situations while holding them accountable has been an honor and a privilege. I have also found great joy in identifying and supporting students who have traditionally struggled in school and helping them succeed and graduate.

In my current stage of life, my passions revolve around my family. I love spending time with my loved ones and in the beautiful landscape that is Idaho. I grew up playing competitive sports and enjoy watching all sports (sometimes too critically, but still, Go Broncos!).

I am constantly inspired by the students of Wood River High School. Their stories, triumphs, and resilience never cease to amaze me. While I would never describe a job in education as 'easy', it is my full-hearted belief that it is worth every ounce of time, effort, and care educators put into it.

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"
-Martin Luther King Jr.
