Devan Hoehn
English Language Development Specialist

My name is Devan Hoehn, and I am one of the English Language Development (ELD) specialists at Wood River High School. I teach Newcomers and also co-teach in the math department, and I truly love this work.

I am a 2009 graduate of WRHS and went on to study Education and Spanish at the University of Montana. After studying abroad in Chile, I came home with a completely new understanding of what it feels like to be a student learning in another language. Even with a background in Spanish, I struggled. That experience had a huge impact on me and ultimately led me to earn my Master’s Degree in English Language Learning. It also shaped my passion for supporting students who are learning English and helping make their school experience a positive one.

I later earned my Administration degree from Eastern Washington University, and while I love being in the classroom, I hope to someday enter the administration field when the time is right.

Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, playing hockey, hunting, and spending as much time outside as possible. My husband Ramsy and I have an eight-year-old daughter, Elli, and a two-year-old daughter, Keller. As a family, we love being outdoors together and spending time with our two dogs, Cedar and Finley.

Please feel free to contact me at any time! I am always happy to connect with students and families.
