English Teacher
Teacher

I’m currently in my seventh year here at Wood River High School, but I’ve been teaching for 23 years now—I just can’t seem to get out of high school. I’m certified in English (6-12) and Literacy (K-12).  Over the years, I have held numerous leadership positions, including English Department Chair, member of the Curriculum Adoption Committee, Teacher Mentor, and Student Teacher Mentor.

I grew up sailing in Rhode Island and graduated from Fairfield University with a BA in Psychology.  I have also earned my MS in Education.  Since then, I’ve lived all over— South Korea, Virginia, California, finally landing here in Idaho in 2007—but my family is still back East. I spend more than my share of time driving across the country. I’m actually dreaming of a camper van to make those trips easier; if anyone is looking for a Personal Project, let me know.

When I’m not at school, I’m a content empty nester. I love to crochet (I’ve donated hundreds of hats!) and I’m slightly obsessed with food preservation, whether it’s canning, freeze-drying, or dehydrating.   Above all, I am a proud mother of two adult children and look forward to one day being known as Mema.
Hope to see you in A206 either for class, or a drop-in.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be?  …. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
